Career Technical Education (CTE)

Photo by Peter Dawn on Unsplash

Career Technical Education also known as Trade, Occupational or Vocational Programs are programs of study that involve a sequence of courses that integrates core academic knowledge with technical and occupational knowledge to provide students with a pathway to post-secondary education and careers.

CBK offers CTE courses and pathways. If you need help with signing up for these courses, please ask your teacher to show you the list of courses and pathways. If you need additional help, you can contact me as well, at aordonez@rcoe.us

Community Colleges offer CTE where you can obtain internships, apprenticeships and earn multiple certificates in a specified area like:

  • Accounting
  • Automotive Technology
  • Automotive Mechanics
  • Culinary Arts – (Chef, cook)
  • Healthcare- (LVN, CNA, medical assistant, medical biller)
  • Dental assistance/hygiene
  • Digital Media
  • Cosmetology
  • Construction
  • Air Conditioning/HVAC
  • Welding
  • Law enforcement
  • Legal studies
  • Agriculture
  • Water technology
  • Information technology
  • Computer technology
  • Nursing
  • Office Administration
  • Fire Technology- (firefighter)
  • Diagnostic Medical Sonography – (Ultrasound technician)
  • Radiology Technology- (xrays)
  • Real Estate
  • Hospitality Management
  • Solar Technology

and more….

Usually, these are 6 month-2 year programs. Most people don’t know, but Community Colleges offer CTE programs for free or at a very low cost. Please don’t spend thousands of dollars on private schools, when you can access CTE programs for free at a nearby community college. Most students qualify for a Cal Grant C (up to $1,700 per year) and the California Promise Grant which offers you two free years at a community college. Just ask me how!
